A friend sent me these images yesterday. What amazing little creatures live in the rain forests! Another good reason to preserve the biodiversity of this amazing planet! -AK
Finger monkeys are native to rain-forests of Brazil , Peru , Bolivia , Ecuador and Colombia. (Source: Buzzle)
Finger monkeys are, as a matter of fact, pygmy marmosets. They are also known by the names "pocket monkey"and "tiny lion".
This cute little primate hugs and grips on to your finger so tight that it pulls your heartstrings and you wish you could take it home with you. The finger monkey is the tiniest living primate in the world. It's so small that it can hold on to your finger.
These primates belong to the family Callitrichidae, species Cebuella and genus C. pygmaea.

Hey AK:
ReplyDeleteHope you are doing well. How is your Health? This is just adorable.
I want one LOL.
Absolutely sweet.
Marmosette's are one my favorite things to look at when i visit the zoo....some look like teeny tiny Wookies!....have never had a chance to hold them ...beautiful !
ReplyDeleteNice to know that you are on the mend, AK!
They are so cute -AK. But what have you done ? Now everybody is going to want one and soon they will be taken out of their natural environment and sold to pet shops and the like. That's NOT GOOD. Are they an endangered species ? They must be protected.
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful our world is. thank you for sharing these pictures.
ReplyDeleteHope you are feeling much better.
Love and light to all

These have got to be the cutest little creatures I have ever seen. I hope the good guys win this thing soon so that these little guys and all other creatures of this planet can be saved. What a shame it would be to lose even one of our precious creatures to polution or destruction of the rain forests.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Our world is a wonderous place! Hope you are feeling better and keep up the good fight!
